Hi my name is DeNae, I'm a junior at East High School in Waterloo, IA. When I'm not playing basketball I like to hang out with my friends and go to the pool in the summer. I also referee games for the Youth League at the Y in Waterloo. I love the game and this lets me experience a different side of the game.
When I graduate from high school I want to major in Secondary Education and become either a high school or elementary school teacher. I work hard in practice and in school. I also spend time outside of practice improving my skills.
I'm coachable, I respect my coaches and also my teammates. I always try to help my teammates if they are having trouble with a drill or play. I also encourage them when they're not having a good game or shots aren't falling.
I am more of a defensive player and love to stop the high scoring person on the other team and change the outcome of the game through rebounds, steals and my favorite, blocking shots! A big difference is I'm a post player but can guard the point guard and wing by my quickness and ability.
During the 2016-2107 season, I tied for first place in total rebounds and blocks in the Mississippi Valley (Mississippi) Conference. I set a single game record of 9 blocked shots and set a season record for 46 total blocked shots.
