My name is Raven Delph. I play for Monrovia High School in Indiana. I am a 6'3", four or five spot player. I have played competitive basketball since I was 9 years old . I've played for multiple high level AAU teams including Indianas Finest, Indiana Explosion, and the Indy Gym Rats. I have always had a love and a drive for basketball and aspire to play college ball.
I have much to offer a team. I'm a true team player. I'm personally competitive, but the success of the team is always my first priority. I am a strong inside player and am skilled with post moves. My outside game is also pretty good and is developing every day. I like to put the ball in the hoop as much as anyone, but my role with many of the teams I've played on has been to tie up 2 or more defenders, allowing my team mates scoring opportunities. Overall, my defense might be my strong point. At 6'3" and 185 I am able to guard girls taller and heavier than me in the post and also girls on the wing. I've led my conference in blocked shots the last 2 years.
I pride myself on my basketball IQ. I'm very coachable. I have played fast-paced, full court pressing defenses, and conservative man and zone defenses and I've been exposed to almost any offensive style imaginable, but I can do more than play tab A into slot B basketballI. I can adjust during the game to changes in the offense or defense and I can identify and take advantage of mismatches and weakness in the opposing team.
I'm proud of the leadership role I play. I am the speaking captain for my team. On the court, I'm very vocal, helping and encouraging my team mates. I don't give up and I keep a positive attitude. Off the floor, I am the first one in and the last one out of the gym. I can be counted on to take advantage of any opportunity to improve my game. I feel a responsibility to my coach and my team mates.
UPDATE! I just helped my team to a sectional title! We pulled off 2 upsets to claim the trophy after being given only an 11% chance to win. Feb 15, 2014.
I have always wanted a health care related career and would love to be a physical therapist. A college that offers a well respected degree program that can help me is paramount. The size or division of the college I attend is not the top priority for me. I want a team where character and sportsmanship are valued, where I can use my skills to contribute to the team, and where I can grow as a player and a person.
