Being the only underclassman on my nationally-ranked, varsity high school team has been one of the highlights of my high school career. Through all of my years of playing basketball, it is through this experience that I grew most as a player, teammate and student-athlete. I had grown accustomed to performing well and receiving accolades as a result of my hard work. For example, during my freshman year, I won most valuable player of my junior varsity county championship game. Making the switch from junior varsity to varsity, as an underclassman, I had to adjust to a back-up role. I learned that supporting and encouraging my teammates can be rewarding and beneficial in achieving team goals. I also learned that the strongest players are always ready to be a contributor to the game; and, I worked hard to bring my best to each and every game. Having competed in the Final Four and Elite Eight in Georgia’s Region 8 6A during my sophomore and junior years, I am hoping to continue that success with my team during my upcoming senior year.
Every vision I have of my life after high school includes me playing collegiate basketball. Nonetheless, it is important to me that my college/university has a basketball program that is a good fit for my academic and athletic goals. As a two-sport athlete (basketball and lacrosse) and four-time team captain, I know that I have what it takes to be a leader on your team. I pride myself on maintaining high moral character, steadfast values and superb work ethic… all of which I believe best qualify me to make an immediate impact on your program.
