Since I was young playing sports has always been something I was interested in, and around 3rd grade was when I started to take interest in playing basketball. Being the first generation to be born in the US, and to pursue a career in basketball meant much of my learning came from my own research. Other than basic advice, many of the skills I have today in basketball came from working with great coaches, watching games on TV and practicing on my own time. Being the first one in the family to pursue sports also means that I have become a role model for many of my younger family members who are beginning to take interest in sports.
Throughout my many years of playing basketball I've seen people who've played better than me that not only makes me push to get better myself but also improve on my skills and compete at a high-level. Dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship are very important skills while on and off the court and I am so glad to receive the accolades from my coaches and teammates that I consistently exhibit such qualities day in and day out. An ideal program would have to meet not only my athletic standards but my academic ones as well.
