Devyn Cope '19 Recruiting Profile

Here are some things about me that you may not know from my profile...

Sports:

    -Varsity team since freshman year.

    -Captain since sophomore year

    -I WAS an All-Star softball player but once I tried basketball I felt like I found my  'thing’. 

    -On the court, I lead by example.  I find it fun and challenging considering I’m still growing and seem to have started playing later than many players.  I know that hard work and putting in time and effort pays off in the long run.

School:

    -I have a 3.65 GPA and am one of the hardest working students and athletes you will ever meet.  

    -I’m undecided on a major at this time but some options I am considering include athletic training/kinesiology or business.

    -Student Ambassador for 3 years and Student Ambassador President my senior year. 

    -National Honor Society for 3 years and served as Secretary my junior year.  

    -Link Leader (new student welcome, & orientation) for 2 years.  I was also voted “Most Spirited Student” last year.  

Volunteer work:

    -I have been a leader at a Vacation Bible School Camp for 3 summers supervising 300 volunteers and 1,000 students ages 5-12 years.  

    -National Charity League (NCL) for 6 years. I have had the opportunity to help local non-profits in my own community with their needs. I have been able to see first hand the struggles of running a non-profit as well as experience the fulfillment of giving back to the community. I have served on the Board of Directors for several years and have learned how to write an agenda, present a motion, run an effective meeting, even write grant requests.

Personal:

I'm looking for a school that I can thrive at on and off the court. I am not afraid of commitment and hard work. My parents and brothers are my biggest supporters and encourage me on and off the court.  What I've learned from my family and my team is that you can do anything you set your mind and heart to.  I'm ready for the challenge of college and welcome this next step.
