Jayzyl Tauala '12 Recruiting Profile

Hello. My name is Jayzyl Fa'atamali'i Tauala. Yes, I know- what a name? Jay is for Junior (my dad) and zyl is for Sylvia (my mom). My two grandmothers make up my middle names and my last name is from my dad (sorry, obvious). I am currenly a Junior and co-captain of my high school basketball team. As a co-captain, I am usually the first person at practice and the last to leave. I support the Varsity Girls and Boys and also the JV Boys and Girls and assist them as scorekeeper and/or clock keeper whenever I can. I enjoy being a leader and I feel one of my strengths is to make sure the team gets along and listens to the coaches. Also, in the beginning of my Junior year, I took over as President of the Terra Nova Polynesian Club as I saw lack of leadership the previous year. I started high school at a pretty big Catholic School and had to leave because financially my parents could not do it anymore (my dad was laid off of work in May 2009 and has not been able to find a steady job). I went to school in the Daly City district and have found my new home at Terra Nova High in Pacifica (a pretty big public school). I am not particular about the type of college I plan to attend but hope to stay on the West Coast (close to my small family of 60- yes, 60- multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins). I love to put together social events and get the team together for great bonding experiences. I guess what I'm trying to say is I am looking forward to playing basketball (maybe even softball and volleyball) in college and hope to make my team(s) part of my family.
