My name is Logan Bays and for as long as I can remember my dream has been to play college basketball. When I was in kindergarten I begged our elementary school PE coach to let me play. Of course, at the time, i could barely make a basket, but I was persistent and eventually he relented. I loved every moment but I did have one major problem - I always broke down when I made a mistake. One day, Coach Smith came over to me and gave me the best advice I've ever heard, "Logan, always play smart, never angry. Play with heart. This game takes dedication and if you want to get better, practice." Coach Smith died before I graduated elementary school but his words and memory have stayed with me.
Now, six years later, I'm a 5'6 pointguard starting my junior year at Immaculate Heart. Since freshman year I've been our starting pointguard. As a freshman I also received honorable mention in my league and was voted Offensive MVP for my team. The following year I was unanimously selected as a member to the 2nd Team All-League and once again Offensive MVP for my team. I've tried my best to follow Coach Smith's advice not just in basketball but in life by maintaining a 3.5 GPA and being enrolled in four AP classes.
I see myself at a college where I can recieve an outstanding education and play basketball. I will bring my passion for basketball and learning to whatever university I attend. I will put my entire heart into the team and make them my family. I know I can make my dream a reality.
