My name is Zion Corrales Nelson from Burnaby, B.C. Canada and I am writing to you because of my interest in playing basketball in college. I play on my high school team and I consider myself an outstanding team player and a very hard working athlete. I have heard comments from my coaches that I have an extremely high basketball IQ and very coachable. I am also a team player and consider myself and each of my team members as a family.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself. I am a POINT GUARD on my high school team and believe I am a dedicated team player. I appreciate and believe my position in the team as a point guard requires leadership and confidence and I believe I have both. I believe in doing my best in every game I play. I believe I always give 100% of myself in every game and in any position given to me by my coach to play.
Every tournament I have participated has brought me more knowledge and experience.
I work very hard to excel and try to be an asset to my team. I have received many basketball awards that I am very proud of. Most notably the following for our Provincial Championships Awards:
MVP – Grade 8 BC Provincial Championships 2012 (1st Place Champions)
Defensive MVP – Junior Varsity BC Provincial Championships 2013 (2nd Place Champions)
Defensive MVP – Varsity BC Provincial Championships 2014 (3rd Place Champions)
1st Team AllStar – Varsity BC Provincial Championships 2015 (3rd Place Champions)
I have also received in most of our games and tournaments as either Player of the Game or MVP or All Star of the Tournament.
As a student, I will be in Grade 12 this coming September 2015 and will be striving to graduate with honours as I have in the past 4 years. I currently have a 90% GPA and I plan on taking the SAT on October 3, 2015. My goal is to score as high as I possibly can. I have been studying all summer and hope to achieve an excellent score.
I hope that you are able to see me play. On the social media, I currently have the following and some public videos for your viewing:
