Personal Statement

Over the past ten years, I have participated in many different sports and athletic activities, including gymnastics, track, basketball, volleyball, and softball, but my all-time favorite sport is softball.  I started playing on little league teams when I was six years old and had so much fun, that I joined as many tournament and club teams that I could fit into my schedule.  I love softball so much that I have found opportunities to play year-round ever since I was nine years old.  I am really enjoying my traveling club and high school varsity softball experiences and I would love to play D-1 college softball, as I earn my degree.  I dream of playing on a highly competitive team, where each player works hard to continually improve, gives 100%, supports their teammates, and where our coaches promote positive team spirit, encouragement, support, and provide training to help each player be the very best she can be.

  • 2012 Jr. Phoenix Fastpitch (ASA 16U Class A)
  • The Jr. Phoenix won the ASA Class A 16U Northern National Championship in 2012. Acacia was a star player on the Jr. Phoenix during the 2012 season and a powerfully dangerous hitter. Acacia was the home run leader on her team, but also had the most walks because pitchers fear her bat. Once on base, she often would steal her way home, as she lead the team in stolen bases with her blazing speed. Acacia hit 28 RBI's, scored 25 runs, and had an overall batting average of .419 with the Jr. Phoenix for the 2012 season. At the ASA 16U National Qualifier in Watertown, WI, Acacia hit a 235 foot, home run against the Bandits and had a 4-day batting average of .632, as her team took 2nd place in the 104 degree heat on 7/8/2012. At Orland Park, IL Showcase Tournament on 7/22/12, Acacia hit a walk-off home run against the Southern IL Express to advance the Jr. Phoenix to the championship game. At the ASA 16U Northern Nationals in North Platte, NE, Acacia came up to bat when the Jr. Phoenix were down 7-10 in the 6th inning, (as they battled the Cubs from Mokena, IL), and drove a 3-run homer over the fence to tie the game. In the 7th inning, the Jr. Phoenix scored one more run off Acacia's sac-fly to deep center and held the Cubs from scoring.

  • Acacia’s summer club team (18U Badger Blitz) took 2nd place in the ASA/USA Class A 18U Northern National Championship Tournament. What is most impressive about this team is the fact that 6 of their 7 wins were the result of late in the game rallies, where the Blitz battled back to make up runs given up earlier in the game. In three of those come-from-behind wins, Acacia hit go-ahead home runs to help secure the win. #1: In their second pool game, the Blitz were down 1-0 and tied the game in the top of the 6th against the “Northern Illinois Ice” with a double by Acacia and an RBI from a teammate to bring her home. Both teams held until the top of the 9th inning, when Acacia broke the ice with a 2-run homer, giving the Blitz a 3-1 lead. The Ice answered in the bottom half with two runs of their own to tie the game at 3-3, but the Blitz were not done. They went on to score three more runs in the top of the 10th and put on a great defensive display to freeze the Ice in the bottom half of the 10th inning for the 6-3 win. #2: In their third bracket game the Blitz were down 3-0 to the “Wisconsin Sparks,” when Acacia helped her team to a 5-run rally with an RBI single in the top of the 5th inning to go up 5-3, but the Sparks lit up their own rally to tie it 5-5 in the bottom of the 5th. Both teams went scoreless in the sixth, but in the top of the 7th, two Blitz players got on with a pair of singles and Acacia cleared the bases with a 245 foot 3-run bomb over the centerfield fence to regain an 8-5 lead. The Blitz allowed one last Spark to score in the bottom of the 7th, but extinguished the flame on a great throw and tag at the plate for the last out of the game and the 8-6 win. #3: In their fourth bracket game, the Blitz faced the “Wisconsin Bandits” with a 4-3 deficit in the top of the 7th inning. It was dejavue when Acacia stepped up to the plate with Blitz runners on 2nd and 3rd. With two outs and a 3-2 count, Acacia jacked a sky-high 3-run dinger (her 62nd career home run) to take a 6-4 lead. Her teammates would go on to produce two more runs, robbing the Bandits of their lead and shutting the door with good defense in the bottom half of the 7th for the 8-4 win. Game seven of their tournament play was a heartbreaker. With a 1-0 lead going into the 7th inning of their 5th bracket game, the Blitz failed to close the door on the “Minnesota A’s Vortex,” allowing them to tie 1-1, sending the game into extra innings. Blitz took a two run lead in the 8th, but the Vortex came back again to tie it at 3-3. In the 9th inning, the Blitz scored three runs to go ahead 6-3, but the defense could not hold the hard hitting A’s, allowing them to score four runs for the 7-6 Vortex win, breaking the Blitz’s six game winning streak and sending them to the semi-final game to face Team Nebraska. Acacia crossed the plate twice, after her single and RBI double, but it was not enough to take down the A’s. Blitz produced their 7th exciting win of the tournament in another tug-of-war battle against “Team Nebraska” in the semi-final game. Nebraska took the 1st inning 1-0 lead, and added 5 more in the 2nd before the in Blitz came back with 4 runs of their own in the bottom half. Nebraska was held scoreless in the 3rd, but the Blitz scored 3, taking the 7-6 lead into the 4th inning. Nebraska tied 7-7 in the top of the 4th, but the Blitz answered with 2 runs, to regain the 9-7 lead going into the 5th. Nebraska tied it 9-9 in the top half of the 5th with two runs, but the Blitz battled back with two of their own, regaining an 11-9 lead in the bottom of the 5th. Flawless defense held both teams scoreless in the 6th and Team Nebraska failed to produce in the 7th, allowing the Blitz to walk away with the 11-9 win and a trip to the championship game. Acacia went 4 for 4 with three singles, a two-run RBI double, and crossed the plate three times in an impressive display of hitting and defense for the 11-9 Blitz win. In the championship, the Blitz and A’s matched up again. Both teams were held scoreless by error-free defense and great pitching through five full innings. The A’s earned four runs in the top of the 6th, with a string of base hits, and even though the Blitz held the A’s in the 7th and produced hits in nearly every inning of the game, they could not string together enough hits in any one inning to bring in a run. Acacia was walked twice, flew out to deep left, and had one stolen base from 2nd to 3rd, but that’s as close as the Blitz came to scoring throughout the entire game. The A’s took the 4-0 win and championship trophy, leaving the 2nd place trophy for the Badger Blitz. For the 9-games played by the Badger Blitz in the National Championship Tournament, Acacia had 32 plate appearances, (26 at-bats), 18 hits, 12 singles, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 6 walks, 11 RBIs, scored 18 runs, went 3 for 3 in stolen bases, had 11 catches in the outfield, produced a .692 batting average, .750 on base percentage, and 1.192 slugging percentage. The end of an era of summer club softball came to a close on Sunday for Acacia as she finished her last competitive summer softball season with the Badger Blitz (a team from Baraboo, WI that warms up 30 minutes before each game but never trains or practices). It’s been an unforgettable journey, earning 1st place at the ASA/USA 16U Northern National Softball Championship in North Platte, Nebraska in 2012 with the Jr Phoenix team, 1st place at the ASA/USA 18U Northern National Softball Championship in Watertown, Wisconsin in 2014 with the Jr Phoenix team, 1st place at the ASA/USA 18U Northern National Softball Championship in Springfield, MO in 2015 with the Impact Team, and earning 2nd place at the ASA/USA 18U Northern National Softball Championship in Rochester, MN in 2016. Acacia will begin her 2nd year of D-1 college softball in a few weeks, as she returns to UWGB this fall to play for the Phoenix. NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
