Hi! My name is Erin Fortney. I am a 2015 graduate from Guelph, Ontario, Canada. I have an undying passion for softball and have been playing since I was 5 years old. As long as I can remember I have wanted to play for Team Canada. That is my ultimate goal, practice like no tomorrow, practice like people all over the world are going to watch you. I went to a camp where we worked with players from Team Canada and I knew I wanted to be just like them. Reaching for the highest possible goal is what keeps me practicing and working my hardest. This is why I want to play college ball; to keep growing and learning new skills. Another reason is the intensity. I thrive on the intensity and competiveness of the game. I take softball seriously and I do my best on and off the field and work hard until I can't work anymore. I truly want to reach my full potential, and I believe that playing on a college team will give me that opportunity. I like receiving feedback and instruction so I can keep improving, applying new ideas and techniques to my game to bring it to another level. I enjoy being part of a team that has a winning attitude, works together and supports each other to win. I believe the friendships and memories made will be unbelievable. Just as important is the education that I would receive in college; I enjoy learning every day. I pitch for my club team, the Guelph Gators. We have won two Ontario Championships, an Ontario Silver and a Silver medal at the 2011 Canadian Fastpitch Championships. We are proud of our accomplishments, but still want to reach higher. This year we are working harder than ever and are striving for a gold medal in the Canadan Fastpitch Championships. At school, I am an honour roll student at Bishop MacDonnell Catholic High School and have achieved a 4.0 GPA in my freshman year. I graduated from my elementary school in 2011 as the class valedictorian and received the Staff Award of Excellence (?Awarded to a member of the graduating class that has combined academic excellence with a willingness to be involved in many aspects of student life and by their presence they support and encourage those around them. This student is a well-respected member of the class and is known for their skills in academics, classroom leadership, their participation and positive influence?).
