Shelbie Roberson '18 Recruiting Profile

   When I go to college not only do I want to receive an education but to be given the opportunity play college ball against some of the best athletes. Softball means everything to me. There is no where else I'd rather be then on the diamond. From in the classroom to on the dirt I always give a 100%. Always giving it my all I find, will always pay off in the long run; hard work always pays off in the end. One of the best sayings I have ever heard was "people are rewarded in public for what they have practiced for years in private" to me, this means in order to achieve your highest of dreams you can't for go half effort with things. You can't just settle for doing your school work for the hour you have in class or just practicing softball for the two hours after school. You have to put in the extra effort, the extra will to get better in school and on the dirt. 

    My parents have preached to me to never give up and always give it my all. If I want to reach my goals that I have to strive for it; that the best things in life don't come easy. There is going to be times where it gets hard and seems like stopping and giving up it the best way to go. However, it's not. Pushing through it and reaching your goals shows how much strength and grit you have down in you. My mentality on the field is not that 'practice makes perfect' but that 'perfect practice makes perfect'. You can practice all you want but if you're not doing it right then you won't get any better. My coaches throughout my softball career has helped me realize what I am capable of and they expect nothing less of me both on and off the field and I am forever grateful for that.
