Brooke Walser '16 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Brooke Walser and I am a 5'8", 165 lb. right handed pitcher. I love softball and the competition that it provides. I do my best to lead by example and be the best person I can be. In everyday life, I am very outspoken and I always try to have a good time. While pitching, I don't show a lot of outward emotion. When I strike someone out I get very excited inside, but all anyone will see is a smile. I have a rigorous practice schedule in order to improve my pitching, hitting, core, flexibility, and strength. Each week I work with a pitching coach, and I also play volleyball and basketball for my high school. My club team is Carolina Cardinals - Baity out of Winston Salem, NC. I play high school softball for East Davidson High School in Thomasville, NC and was a starting varsity pitcher as a freshman and sophomore. I was selected as the Central Carolina Pitcher of the Year and helped my team make it to the 3rd round of the state playoffs this year. I am looking for a school that will challenge me both academically and athletically. I also want to feel the closeness of the team. Right now I want to major in Nursing. I will take the SAT and ACT during the fall of my Junior year. My weighted GPA is 4.3, and I'm currently ranked 42 of 269 in my class. My immediate family consists of my father, who is a Senior Chemist at Valspar in High Point. My mother is an EC teacher at East Davidson High School. I have one younger brother Reece; he is my biggest fan and loves to come watch and cheer me and my team on at every game. Last summer I spent a lot of time at the softball fields in our area teaching basic pitching / hitting fundamentals to some of the younger girls that are just starting, and I will be doing the same this summer as well as giving private lessons. I really enjoy spending the time with them and showing some of the basics to get them started. It really means a lot to me when these younger kids show up at my games and cheer on me and my team! I remember looking up to the older girls playing when I was their age and how much it meant to me when the BIG GIRLS would take the time to talk and offer advice. I'm hoping I am able to get these girls as excited about softball as they did for me. Respectfully, Brooke Walser
