Ava Morris '25 Recruiting Profile

          It is a love for the sport of softball that drives me to work hard and practice to always be improving my game.  Although I have been involved to varying degrees in other sports (gymnastics, basketball and track and field), the first time I picked up a bat, I was completely hooked on the sport.  I quickly found that softball is the sport in which I excelled the most and  had the greatest passion for.  Softball will always be a part of my life.  In my spare time, I now volunteer and help teach younger players in our county's recreation league; which is where I got my start in the sport.  I proudly made my varsity high school squad this past season (the only freshman to do so) and went on to lead the team in batting.

     My collegiate and professional goals is to first obtain my undergraduate degree in biology, followed by a doctorate in marine science and ecology. I hope to one day become a marine vertebrate / marine mammal specialist.  I know these goals sound lofty, but my father is a science professor, so I have grown up around this field of work and  have developed a passion for this area of scientific research.  In preparation for college success in the science disciplines, I am currently taking honors math and science high school courses while still maintaining a very high GPA.  I hope to find a college that will allow me to merge my desires of continuing my softball career while preparing for my professional career.  In return for this opportunity, I would be the hardest working, most coachable athlete on the field.
