My name is Mikalia Guard and I am a senior in the class of 2015 at Pine Forest High School in Fayetteville, NC. I have had this dream of playing college softball since I started playing about 8 years ago. I feel I could bring a lot to a team. I am a person with a lot of work ethic.I always strive to be the best and plan on improving my skills throughout my career. I am a team player and also a great leader. Not only can I communicate well but I can handle stress well also. Instead of letting something bother me, I use it as motivation. It is no longer stress, it is what is pushing me to get better.
When it comes to academics I work even harder. I carry a 4.5 GPA and my ACT score is a 27. I am in many academic clubs such as Academy of Scholars, National Honor Society, Torch and Laurel Society, and AIG.
My position in softball is hitter. I am a hitter and I love to hit. Carrying a strong bat along with me is a plus. Since my position is hitter, I will play in the field wherever I am needed. Primarily I am a corner player, mostly third base. I like the challenge the position provides at all times.
I have played varsity ball since my freshman year. I play travel ball for the Lady Lightning Gold. I also have a personal trainer at Twelve Lions Gym that specializes in softball conditioning as well as overall fitness. I'm different from other recruits because I never give up. I am self driven and aware of the things I need to work on.
