What is a student-athlete? A student-athlete is someone that is committed to both their education and their sports. This is something I have been working toward my entire school career. Academics do not come easy for me, but I work extremely hard to maintain my grades whereas my athleticism does come easy, yet I know I must work just as hard at sports to improve my skills. My commitment to being a student athlete is noticed through my long hours of training on the field and the classroom. Spending hours at training to increase my fielding, batting and overall strength and speed and my early morning, lunch and after school sessions with my teachers to work on my academics. In 2013 I was honored at Monmouth University for Women In Sports Day where I was recognized for playing multiple sports, academics, leadership and sportsmanship. I also received my schools sports scholarship for recognition of my athletic ability, academics and leadership role in my school. I have also earned numerous MVP awards at tournaments for my overall defensive playing or being strong at bat.
My personality is contagious. I have a great sense of humor that I bring onto the field. I am often the teammate that lightens a situation, encourages my teammates and show that we can have fun at practice but still work hard and get the job done, my coaches consider me to be the team leader. A nickname that I feel fits my personality and how I react on the field is "live wire". I am a burst of energy on the field or on the bench, cheering on and encouraging my teammates with my loud contagious personality. With my determination, hard work, athleticism and personality I feel I would be a good match for a collegiate student athlete.
