Personal Statement

My goal is to get a high quality education while getting to play the game I love. I know that it is a quality college education that will let me live the life I desire. When I was in 12u, I realized that I could get that education while playing the game that makes me feel alive. Ever since, I have done nothing but push myself to get better in every aspect of softball.
Being from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, it is especially tough to excel in softball. The lack of resources and competitiveness has definitely made me work harder than most to try to reach my potential. I’m not someone that only works hard on the field, I also work hard off the field in school and other extracurricular activities. Being average in anything isn’t something that settles well with me; and that’s why I strive to be the best I can. The discipline that competitive athletics demands has enabled me to achieve my goals in what I set my mind to.
Softball is the best game to teach about life. It’s a game that makes you realize that you can have 70% failure and still be seen as successful. It teaches you that life isn’t about mistakes; it’s about learning from those mistakes and rejoicing in your successes. This is why I love the game and hope to continue it at the college level.
Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your program.
