I am Jenna Steinhoff, a 5'10" 160 lb. right handed pitcher. As an 8th grader I played on a travel team and led them to multiple victories as a pitcher. As a freshman I played on the JV team as the main pitcher. I also had a good season batting with a batting average of .300. I led the team in fielding percentage with a percent of .962. Being able to lead the team in victories has helped me become a better player, a better person, and made me realize how much I love softball and how much I want to play college softball. For my sophomore year I received All-District and All-Region pitcher for my division. For my junior year I led my team into the Final Four and was awarded All-District, All-Region, and All-State Honorable Mention as a pitcher. My batting average for junior year was .324 with over 30 RBI's and for pitching I had over 100 strikeouts with a minimal amount of walks.
I train year-round for softball. In the summer I play on multiple teams such as high school, travel, little league. and all stars. In the Winter, since I live in Upper Michigan and we get a lot of snow, I train in the gym with weight training, running, pitching, fielding, and batting in batting cages. I have been to quite a few softball camps so far: the Blue Chip softball camp, the Western Michigan University softball camp, the Ferris State prospect camp twice, and the Saginaw Valley positional camp. I work very hard in school and maintain a high GPA. I pride myself in being a hard worker on the field and in the classroom.
I also have natural leadership abilities. I was the team captain for the 14u Gladstone Fastpitch team and the 16u Gladstone Fastpitch team. I also was the captain of the 2015 Gladstone High School Varsity Volleyball team. I love pushing myself and others to get better. You always have room to improve whether it be working on offense or defense. This past season for high school ball (2015) I had a great Varsity season as one of our two pitchers. The other one being a senior. I had very few losses on the season and had 66 strikeouts in the regular season games I pitched. My bat was also very good with 21 RBI's and a batting average that never touched below .290. For my sophomore year in high school for volleyball my sophomore and junior year I received GNC's Honorable Mention.
I set high goals for myself and I always push myself to achieve them. My short term goals are: improve on my rise and drop ball and hopefully add the curve ball to my list of pitches. My long term goals are: get a degree in Animal Sciences so I can become a veterinarian and also to go to a Division 1 or 2 school and play college softball. I see myself as a right handed pitcher but also as a First basemen or even a utility player. I know how to play every position since I have had experience in every position. I feel that my commitment to training will help me in softball but also in life.
