Playing with my team in the 2015 Senior League World Series has been one of the highlights of my softball career. However, playing after suffering an injury in the Regional Championship, taught me more about teamwork, commitment, and sacrifice than I could have ever imagined. It is amazing how an injury can help you to become stronger than you ever thought possible.
I am the starting center fielder for the Escanaba High School varsity softball team, but have also played right and left field. 2nd base was my primary position prior to high school. I have also played 3rd base for several tournaments in my softball career. Offensively, I am always looking to take the next base. Speed is one of my best attributes, so I always try to be as aggressive as possible to give my team the advantage. "Emily is one of the best outfielders that has come through our district in a long time," said Coach Segorski. " She is blazing fast!" "We can bounce Emily from outfield to infield. She has a great deal of flexibility."
Academics are very important to me! Even though I have not decided on my major, I know I want to pursue a degree in the health field. I am currently a member of Health Occupations Students of America, and this program has made a profound impact on my decision to pursue health. My goal is to make the A honor roll this quarter and the rest of my high school and college career.
I am also a gymnast on the Escanaba High School varsity team. I lettered in gymnastics in 2015 and 2016. I qualified for the Michigan Individual State Championships in 2015 and 2016.
