Erika Garant '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Erika Garant. I play catcher with both accuracy in my throwing and speed when it comes to making decisions. I rarely get run on and when they do, they are mine! On top of this I rarely strike out, am a huge base stealing threat and hit for power. A slugging percentage of .743 for this current season speaks for itself. I will be attending college in 2012 and am targeting a few universities that will help me achieve my goals in both academics and athletics. I believe I could be an impact player within your program. I am currently a junior at Almont High School in Almont, Michigan and have maintained a solid 3.67 GPA. I was just named the National Honor Society President and also am in an agriscience curriculum at night which is tied to a local chapter of the FFA (Future Farmers of America). I am an extremely effective catcher but can play shortstop with skill and grit when called on (named 1st team All Conference at this position 2011). I have been known to change a game by my presence and calm behind the plate. I play with a purpose and a specific goal for each game. I am called the General by my coaches because of my ability to assess the situation and help my teammates be ready to react. When I am in my batters box, I control the tempo of what happens offensively. I understand pitchers and what they are trying to do to me and adjust quickly. I was called on to adjust my style of hitting this year from a singles hitter to a power hitter and transformed nicely through many hours of practice and lessons. In one tournament, in a must win game this year we were going up against a very strong team. I was batting in the second hole and took the first pitch off their number one pitcher and sent it a good 20 feet over the 210' center field fence. I want you to know if you take a moment to look at me play it will definitely be worth it! I will prove to you that I AM that team member that will help take your program to the next level.
