Personal Statement

My name is Mary Martin and I am from Winnipeg, Canada. I was selected to TEAM CANADA for the Junior Women National Program. I played at the WBSC XI Junior Women’s World Softball Championships from August 9-15 in Oklahoma City, Ok. I am the 2015 U18 Female Player of the Year in Manitoba.

I am a catcher and hit from the left side. I also am a utility player and can play in the outfield.

I am looking for an intense, hard working program that will challenge me. I am coachable and committed to becoming a better player. I believe I am the type of player that your team is looking for.

I am committed to Muscatine Community College for my upcoming freshman year (2016 season). However, Muscatine has suspended its softball program for the 2017 season and has released me for recruiting purposes. Therefore, I am looking to make a move after this season.

For my club team, I was awarded the 2015 Winnipeg Lightning Commitment to Excellence Award for hard work, dedication and passion. I have received four offensive player awards in the past six years. I have participated in four Canadian National Championships. I received the 2013 Top Female Player U16 in Manitoba by Softball Manitoba.

I have received an academeic scholarship from Muscatine Community College; a grant from the Women to Watch program in Manitoba (Coaching Manitoba); a bursary from Softball Manitoba and a bursary from the Winnipeg Lightning Softball Organization.

I was selected to Team Manitoba (Team Toba) for the 2015 Western Canadian Summer Games. I was a team captain for this program. This has been superseded by the selection to TEAM CANADA.
