Personal Statement

Ever since I first stepped on the field at the age of seven, I fell in love with the sport. I put in countless hours of hard work and dedication, so I can become better, and achieve my goal of playing college ball. My dream is to be able to play on a professional fast pitch softball team. My goal is to have the best education I can get, through possible scholarships both academically and from the talent God gave me for softball. I give my all both on & off the field I am a student-athlete! I am working towards graduating on stage with honors and possibly becoming Valedictorian of my class. Outside of school, I take part in the Passion play, and I have confirmed, in my catholic church. I attend mass on Sundays. My main focus is finding the right college to fit me academically, spiritually and softball wise! God plays a huge part in my life. He has shown me the way and has given me many blessings and talent. My mother is my back bone, she has pushed me to be the best I can be, motivates me, watches the blood, sweat, and tears fall even cries with me. I am so thankful to have the support of my stepdad he has shown me a lot about life, picked me up after my dad died, and took me like his own child. My journey was never easy, I have been through many obstacles in my life like people bulling me, being jealous of me, and having to understand death at at young age. At the age of ten, I lost my dad to suicide and it was the worst day of my life and it has changed me forever. I have had my share of tragedy in my lifetime, but I refuse to let it define who I truly am. I succeed because I work hard; I turn all negative things into positive things. I have patience and I work harder under pressure. I play ball for God, myself, all who struggle, and the kids who cannot play sports due to illness or being bullied. One day I hope to be a role model for other girls and give them more opportunities than I have. Softball is a life lesson for me, it is not just a sport or a game to me, it is most of what I am made of and I couldn't have gotten this far without softball.

I think I would be a good recruit for any softball athletic program with the highest level of competition. I consider myself a very competitive player. I am a team player who shows great sportsmanship and leadership skills both on and off the field. I give 110% in everything I do. I earn everything I get by working hard because nothing was ever given to me. I encourage my teammates to do well and I help them on the field when they need me. I am quick on my feet and I think fast on the field. I respect my coaches and their decisions on when and where I am best fit to play on the field. I am honest, loyal, determined, focused, loving, kind hearted, and on time. When I step on the field, I leave all and any problems I may have in the dirt, and I play ball with passion and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I am a fast learner by watching, but allowing me hands on experience I will learn even faster. I accomplish whatever I put my mind to, and I am always very eager to learn something new. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college at the highest level of competition possible to fit me. I am my biggest critic. I do not take pride in the great things I do, but instead I stay humble and I work harder to fix what needs to be fixed for me to be better.

They say practice makes perfect, but I believe different. No one will ever be perfect, but the more you practice the better you will become. It is not about being better than anyone its about being better than the person you were yesterday. You have to learn how to lose and fail before you can truly understand what it means to win and succeed.
