Hi my name is Allie O'Brien and I am a junior at Dallas Center Grimes high school. I participate in softball, soccer, and basketball and have a 3.9 GPA. I have played sports since I was 6 and I am working to pursue a college softball career. My primary position is shortstop, but I am willing to play where ever I am needed. I have played varsity softball since I was in eighth grade. I have gone to the state softball tournament three times, the state soccer tournament twice, and the state basketball tournament once. In eighth grade my softball team placed third, as a freshman we were runner-ups, and this past season we won the state tournament. I am very passionate about sports, but also make time for academics. I maintain a 3.9 GPA and take numerous college-level courses. I am planning on taking part in a Des Moines Area Community College CNA program my senior year of high school so I can get some experience before pursuing a nursing major in college. I am different from other recruits in that I manage my time well, and I have my priorities straight. I have managed my time between academics, athletics, family, and friends my entire life. I am also a member of the National Honor Society at Dallas Center Grimes high school, so I have done community service throughout my high school career. I am a team-first player who will do whatever it takes to play in college and help my team win. Being part of the Raccoon River Conference and also the Little Hawkeye Conference has given me the exposure of going all over the state of Iowa and playing many different teams. I believe that I am more than ready and prepared to play in college. I am really looking forward to going through the college recruitment process. I am fully committed to this and I am ready to accomplish my goal of playing college softball!
Through my Sophomore year I have earned 7 varsity letters (3 Softball, 2 Basketball, 2 Soccer). I am on pace to earn 13 varsity letters, (5 Softball, 4 Basketball, 4 Soccer). Each letter was earned as a major contributor.
My combined softball record is 113-17. Finished 2011 (8th grade) with a 3rd place finish in the Class 3A Iowa State Tournament. Earned a starting position as designated player in the state tournament. Finished 2012 as the State Runner-Up in the class 4A Iowa State Tournament, Starting Shortstop. Finished 2013 as the Class 4A State Champion, Starting Shortstop. First Team All Racoon River Conference, All Region.
