Katherine Claypool '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kate Claypool and I have played softball for as long as I can remember. I fell in love with the game when I was five years old and that love has only grown. I put everything I have into softball and school— working hard and always giving my all. I earned the Varsity starting shortstop position as an 8^th grader, transitioned to starting catcher in 9th and 10th grades, then transitioned into starter at 3rd base to help fill a team gap for my junior year, earning 1st Team All-Conference recognition.  I was voted captain by my teammates. My athletic and leadership skills have matured in the last four years, along with my mental game, and I have found my voice both on and off the field. I am strong, fast, smart, and aggressive-and I love the challenges that this game provides.

Softball has taught me the value of hard work, dedication, teamwork, leadership and sacrifice. These are skills that I apply in my academic life as well. I hold myself to the highest standards on the field and in the classroom. I have a 4.3 weighted GPA and I am class ranked 1/461 on an unweighted basis.   I am looking for a program that will be a fit both academically and athletically. My dream has always been to play and compete in collegiate softball. I believe I have the talent to play for a high level college team, along with the work-ethic, character and leadership qualities to have a positive impact on your program. I look forward to the opportunities the future offers.
