My name is MaKayla Parkinson, and I play softball as a right handed pitcher. I bat right handed, and can also hit, slap and bunt left. Softball and schooling are the things I focus on day in and day out. I want to further my playing and have the chance to succeed in the greater opportunities I may be able to receive. I'm a hard worker and I help lead the team with a great attitude and great confidence. My team means more to me than anything else. The bond between us is unbreakable. I'm a great candidate for my team because if someone is down, it is my job to pick them up and to help them grow and succeed. You will never see me not smiling, even after bad calls, or after a bad game. I play this sport to have fun, to be competitive, and to learn from each and every game I play. I'm not afraid to get down in the dirt to dive headfirst to a base, or to scoop up dirt to make a play. I'm confident in myself and at every at bat, I tell myself I'm a great hitter. I grow each and every day and I would love to have the chance of playing for a while longer. To grow and succeed in the things I would like to, is a goal I have had since I was a little girl. My Coach Chester Peterson said to me, "Don't let anyone say you cant, prove to them your working your hardest and set your mind to it, and great things will follow. You can do anything you set your mind to." I hope to improve my skills and become something even better than what I am now. I received the Top Athlete Award from Standard Journal on May 18, 2015. It was such an honor to receive an award like for being an outstanding pitcher. My goal is to work towards being athlete of the year.
