Personal Statement

My name is Kaitlyn Jackson and I am from a small town in Colorado but my heart and drive is as big as Texas.  I have been the starting varsity pitcher for my freshman and sophomore year.  During my freshman year I helped lead my team to an 8-9 record year compared to the 1-17 season they had the year before.  Just wrapping up my sophomore year I again was instrumental in leading my team to an even better season.  We ended up 14-5 and this time we were the league champions. During this season I was awarded first team all conference, voted by the league coaches as Player of the Year and nominated and voted for as female student athlete of the month by area high school athletic directors.  My drive to improve myself and my team has paid off this year.  I am committed to extra practice outside of my normal team practices  by working with my dad and private coaches.  I acknowledge how this hard work and personal sacrifice has paid off in the difference of my performance between my freshman and sophomore year and I am looking forward to seeing how I continue to grow for myself and my team with my continued dedication. I have been on competitive travel teams for the past four years and love the relationships and bonds that have formed not only between myself and my teammates but also all of our families.  It is incredible to see how these relationships translate into our community and make it a better place by our outreach as a team family in working together and volunteering for various organizations.   My goal in playing softball is not only for the love and passion I have for it but as a means to further my education.  I work hard on and off the field so that I may help myself and my family with the cost of college. I continue to keep up on my studies knowing how important my grades are in achieving my goals. I am currently undecided as to what field of study I would like to go into in college.
