Elizabeth Ballew '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Elizabeth Ballew and I am an upcoming senior at Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama. I started for the varsity team sophomore and junior year as an outfielder and pinch runner. I played first base and centerfield for the junior varsity team my freshman year, and assisted in the dugout during varsity games, occasionally pinch running for our pitcher and catcher. This past year I ran a 2.94 home-to-first and was recently timed at a 12.34 from home-to-home. I also play for the sixteen/eighteen and under Birmingham Mustangs as a starting outfielder. As an athlete I am very dedicated to maintaining peak performance level, aside from practice I take hitting lessons as well as attend Elite Sports Performance athlete training workouts three days a week. As a student I am an avid reader and devoted studier, I work hard both inside and outside the classroom to maintain the highest level of academic achievement I possibly can. I finished my junior year with a 3.86 which placed me in the top thirty percent of my class while taking Honors Chemistry and Math. I believe that if I were selected to play at the collegiate level I would be an asset, not only because of my skill but also because from an early age I was taught that effort and hustle are two of the most important characteristics of an athlete and I work my hardest everyday to exude those traits. I always try to be the first one off and on the field, and encourage my teammates to be as well. I always listen and try my hardest to adjust whenever and wherever I am instructed. As a team player I strive to be as flexible as possible, I am experienced in most positions and am always prepared to make an adjustment or change to better benefit my team. I look to play softball in college as well as major in Chemical engineering with a possible minor in general chemistry. I am not looking to play specifically at a division one, two, or three school, but to find a team that I can greatly contribute to and a school that supported my academic aspirations.
