Val grew up as a multi-sport athlete in Ohio, playing volleyball and softball and became inspired to become a dietitian after seeing the impact small changes had on her performance. She studied Medical Dietetics for undergrad at The Ohio State University and later went on to get her masters in Exercise Science and Health Promotion from Cal U Penn.
Val has been an RD since 2006 and has worked in a variety of settings including clinical and out patient counseling and freelance work with a focus on chronic disease management, weight-loss, wellness and prevention and sports nutrition. She has worked with a variety of athletes over the years from youth to semi-pro and many endurance athletes. Val is passionate about providing evidence-based interventions and education. She loves to find creative ways to educate and inspire athletes and families to take action for life long healthy eating.
Above all, Val is a mom and wife and enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering with her church, exploring the outdoors, experimenting in the kitchen, watching and coaching her kids in sports and when there is time, training for triathlons and finding new and challenging ways to be active.
