Working on the behalf of High School and future collegiate student athletes has been a goal of mine for the last 10-plus years, and NCSA has allowed me to continue achieving that goal. As a former athlete who did not have the proper guidance in the recruitment stages of my life (not knowing WHEN the recruitment stages were for a start), I ended up leaving the court, the diamond, and found a home in sports radio. This was the ‘next best thing’ for me, as I found myself living vicariously through the student athletes I was announcing for at my college, Monmouth University in Monmouth Beach, NJ.
I called basketball games, field hockey, football, softball and baseball, the list goes on longer than a an extra-inning MLB game. Through my experiences in sports radio, I continuously found myself interested in the recruiting journeys the athletes I was marveling over took to get to the stage they were at, thus, my passion for the world of recruitment grew and grew. Every athlete has a story, and if I can be written in even the shortest sentence on a page in their hypothetical (or real for any writers out there?) book one day, I am all in!
