I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area in California. I went to college at Northwestern University, where I majored in journalism. I grew up with a passion for baseball, but realized on the high school field that I was not talented enough to keep playing. I wanted to find other ways to stay involved in sports though, so I started a sports department at the high school newspaper. I pursued sports broadcasting in college at Northwestern, and was the sports director for the student-run radio station, WNUR sports. There, I developed great relationships with 11 different Northwestern varsity sports teams that we covered, and got a great sense for understanding the demands of a D-1 athlete. After college, I worked for a local radio station near Mason City, Iowa, working as a sports broadcaster covering high school sports. This opportunity gave me a sense of all kinds of different talent levels across the North Central Iowa area, and how some of those athletes prepare for the jump to the next level. I also worked with college programs at the JuCo, Division III, and D-1 levels, helping me get a better sense of all the different college levels available. I was driven to work for NCSA to help families get on the right path, and help find a school that makes the most sense for their student-athlete. Understanding both the high school and college sides of the recruiting process, I am determined to help the next wave of student athletes get the help they need as they prepare for the next level.
