I have been playing water polo for close to eight years now, and it has become my life. I am in my junior year at John McCrae Secondary School, participating in the High Performance Athlete program, which allows committed athletes, playing for their provincial and national teams, to balance their busy sports and academic schedules.
I am a strong contender in the water and have been named to my provincial water polo team (18U) two years in a row, as well as to the national team (16U). I am able to play whatever position the coach asks of me, and deliver excellence. Some of my strengths include: powerful eggbeater for whole-setting or checking, excellent teamwork, and a powerful shot. In the 2015-16 National Championship League season, I was recognized as the top scorer in the 19U men's Eastern Conference.
I am a natural leader and tend to lead by example. I have been our Club’s team captain for four consecutive years and was co-captain of the provincial team this summer. I offer a professional and respectful attitude on deck, follow instructions easily, and am always looking to improve my performance.
In addition to playing water polo, I am taking coaching and referee certifications, and work as a youth coach with the younger members of our Club. I also have my National Lifeguard Service and swimming instructor certificates.
I am interested in the bigger challenges that are offered by playing water polo for an American college. I am looking for a school with a competitive athletic environment, as well as a strong criminology and /or psychology program. My long term goal is to become a lawyer.
