Daniel Akerlind '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Daniel Akerlind and I am a 17 year old (July birthday) senior at JSerra Catholic High School in San Juan Capistrano, California. I am 6'5" and weigh 190 pounds. I was the first freshmen at JSerra to ever be a starter on Varsity and received the reward of most improved player that year.  I am now a three year Varsity starter and Team Captain.  I will add a fourth year as a Varsity starter to my resume this season, which will make me the first volleyball player in JSerra history to start all four years on Varsity. 

My usual position is OH/OPP for club, and I play OH for my HS Varsity Team. I am willing to play any position my coach needs me to play. I just completed my 6th year of club volleyball and was the starting OH for the 17-1's at 949 Volleyball Club in San Juan Capistrano.  We finished 5th at Nationals this season where I had a very successful tournament.

I have played ice hockey, baseball, earned a 2nd Degree Black belt in Taekwando, and was a football player throughout my whole life until my freshmen year of high school. It was then when I decided to stop playing football and to fully commit to volleyball. It is my dream to play volleyball at the next level. I am a very coachable, hard working team player who understands that academics is above sports.
