When I first entered high school I played football for the freshman team. I went on to play football again the following year for the junior varsity team. Both years I was the starting defensive end. After the end of my sophomore football season, my football coach made me start running track the following indoor season, which ultimately turned out to be the best thing that could happen for me.
I technically didn't run track because I threw shot-put. My PR was around 36 and I was able to go to the district championship. I have been running track for about two years now and to have the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level would be a dream come true. But to be completely honest, no, I'm not one of the fastest people you've probably heard about and far from being the top in the nation, but with that being said, I have a huge amount of potential to become that runner who has national leading times. I know within myself I have the drive, the eagerness, and the passion to become one of the best track and field athletes and be able to compete with those top-tier runners. I am an extremely coachable athlete, meaning you tell me to do something and i do it with my complete effort. No matter how much I know it may hurt or how tired I'll get from it, I will do it because I know as a coach you are trying to get the best out of me and I am absolutely willing to give you my best, every time I step onto the track. I have a very good work ethic and make sure I never slack off no matter how hard or easy the practice may be.
Not only do I put in a lot of effort on the track, I do so as well in the classroom. My grades are one of the most important things to me and the can be reflected upon by my GPA and past report cards. Like on the track I like to push myself in my classes also by taking AP and Honor classes. As much as I love track I do understand that my grades are just as, if not more, important and I am extremely use to being a student-athlete, meaning I will know how to handle getting my school work done and studying and get my work done on the track, putting 100% of effort into both.
