Personal/Academic
My name is Joseph Ducote. I live in St. George, Utah. I go by my middle name, which is Sage. So that is how you will find my online stats, with Sage Ducote instead of Joseph. I am a junior in high school. I achieve a cumulative GPA of about 3.85. I have received various honor roll awards, academic letters, and certifications for my grades. I have not taken the ACT yet, but I took a practice ACT that said my score would be about a 28. All throughout high school, I have been enrolled in honors classes. This year, my junior year, I am enrolled in 2 honors classes, 2 AP classes, and one Concurrent Enrollment class associated with our local university. I hope to continue my academic success.
Running Career: Freshman
I started my running career with track and field my freshman year. I ran the 800m, the 1600m, and the 3200m. I only did this to build up some speed/endurance for football. I wasn't very good at all, but once I got into it, I was hooked. There was no other feeling to me than racing and training hard. So I decided to do cross country my sophmore year to build some more endurance for track.
Freshman PR's: 800m: 2:39 1600m: 5:38 3200m: 12:08
Sophmore
My sophmore year, I did cross country in the summer for the first time. I was hooked. I started out the year kind of in the back of our middle guys. But then I really started training and working hard, and found myself running with our top guys. This was a big season of improvement for me. Our team did very well this year, and took region and state. Out of our 7 varsity spots, 5 of them were seniors, so I knew that to be varsity the next year, I had to work really hard to pick up the slack. Then track came along, and I trained and worked harder than ever. I saw a lot of improvement this track season, and it was also my first time being on the varsity team. I was able to run at the BYU Invitational, which was a great privelege.
Sophmore PR's: 800m: 2:13 1600m: 4:45 3200m: 10:19 3 Mile XC: 16:52
Junior (so far)
I have finished this year's cross country season with numerous achievements. My team (desert hills) is ranked 11th in the country by Dyestat, and i have been our fifth man all year. We were able to run in the Woodbridge XC Classic sweepstakes race, where we took 5th overall. At our region championships, we won with 18 pts, and I took 6th overall. At our state championships, we won with 22 pts, and I took 7th overall. We were serious contenders for Nike Cross Nationals, but at nike southwest, we didn't really have a good race, and ended up taking 4th to Timpanogos, Davis, and American Fork. At the Footlocker West Regional, I ran in the Junior Boys race, where I took 3rd.
PR's: 2 Mile XC: 10:07 (Little valley 2 miler) 3 Mile XC: 15:30 (Woodbridge sweepstakes race) 5k XC: 16:14 (Nike Southwest)
Goals
My collegiate goals are to be offered a scholarship to a Division 1 university or college. I want to run competitively for that school, and I will work my hardest and do what it takes to achieve that goal. Also, you can follow my training on this link: fastrunningblog.com, search "Sage Ducote"
