For the past five years running has been my passion, and I am certain that I want to run in college. I absolutely love the sport of track and cross country and am highly competitive when I compete in races. I have trained every day that I could for two years to ensure that I am prepared for great performance in races. I look at practice as an opportunity to get stronger and faster as well as to make sure the rest of my team is doing the same so that we will be successful in meets.
I have been training in school track and cross country since 7th grade. I have been on the varsity team since my sophmore year. during that time I made it to cross country regionals twice and track regionals once. Currently, my team and I are training for the upcoming 2015 Cross Country season. It is our goal to win District for the very first time in 6a as well as make it to the State Meet. As a result, I am training very hard every day as well as being a leader for the team. I am certain that through hard work and perserverance, we will achieve our goals. I also have been running summer track for the past 4 years and have made it to the USATF Nationals 3 times. Although I sustained a slight injury (hip flexor) in the summer of 2014, which affected my USATF season and the start to my XC season, I have been able to return at full strength and have been able to PR at every distance since that time (this is a link to my progression: http://tx.milesplit.com/athletes/insider/3697431-joseph-campbell#.VdI0wlNViko).
I take my academics very seriously as I know they will help carve a future for me later in life. It is important that I find a perfect balance between my athletic and academic commitments. I am also active outside of school with my job at HEB as a grocery bagger and parking lot attendant, as well as in my church community.
In short, I love to run competitively and I hope that with the help of this program i find a college where I can continue to work to be the best athlete I can be, as well as find a college where I can study for my future career.
