Alex Thomas '14 Recruiting Profile

I am 5' 10" 145 pounds; (and still growing) 2014 Senior attending a 4A TAPPS (Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools); high school in Carrollton, Texas (which is near Dallas). I am a cross country runner and distance track runner. I am primarily interested in a Division I or High Academic Division II or III college. I was All State in cross country during the fall of 2013 finishing in fourth place in the state championship with a time of 16:42.  In 2012 I finished in 6th place in the State Championship with a time of 16:51. I finished second in the Texas State Cross Country State Championship in 2011 (Division 3A - All State) and improved my time from my freshman year by over 2 minutes. My 3 mile state championship time of 16:19 was sixth best amongst all sophomores in the state of Texas and two seconds off the 3rd best sophomore time for that distance, A more complete record of my high school cross country running results can be found at: http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Athlete.aspx?AID=2515734#tT1   I was a TAPPS 4A state track finalist in the 3,200 and 1,600 this past spring, 2013.  I finished 5th in the 1,600 (4:38) and 4th in the 3,200 (10:20).  During the spring 2012 track season I finished 2nd in the Texas State TAPPS 3A 3,200 event and sixth in the 1,600. My time in the 3,200 was a 10:10. I expect my times to continue to drop over during my senior year. I hope to contribute points to both sports programs my college freshman year and beyond. I am interested in an engineering degree possibly combined with some business courses. The quality and breadth of the academic programs in college is very important to me. I am indifferent about the size of the university, but would prefer one that offered individual attention.
