Keith Daniel DeBlock Jr. '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Dan DeBlock, and I am a Senior cross country runner at West Milford High School. I am also a hard worker who realizes that talent only goes so far. In order to achieve a goal, you need to want it and work hard for it. I have based my entire cross country career off of that principle. I am looking for a school that will help me to further my talents and to realize my full potential as a runner. Another plus about me as a runner is that I have a "runner's body." Long legs and a slender frame aid to my success. I am 6 feet tall and weigh about 155 pounds. I am in my junior year, and have been a starter on varsity for all four of my years in high school. I have also earned all county honors (2x honorable mention) and all conference honors (2nd team and 1st team) for my freshman and sophomore years. My junior year is when I began to realize what hard work can do when you want to achieve a goal. I went from 23rd place in the county my sophomore year, to 3rd place my junior year and took a minute off of my best time. Even though this all sounds great, I believed that my best was yet to come. So far in my senior year, I have only completed my cross country season and I am already one of the best runners in all of the state. I became the first runner in school history to win county and conference championships along with breaking the school record at all four courses we have competed at this year. I still believe that my best is yet to come. With motivation, and the drive to succeed, I believe that the sky is the limit. Although I am driven toward my own individual goals, I believe that my greatest asset as an athlete is my ability to motivate others. I am a captain on my team, and as number 1 on the team, I am usually the one others look to for guidance, and I have embraced this with open arms. I am looking forward to new challenges I will face in collegiate running next year.
