My name is Gregory Leeper and I am a junior student athlete at Morris Hills High School. I am exactly six-feet tall and about 170 pounds.
My sophomore year was my first year doing track and as you can see, it was a very successful one. Our team won both county-relays as well as county-individuals this year. In the county-relays I helped our team win first for the long-jump, intermediate hurdles, and shuttle hurdle relays as well as second for the triple jump relay. In Morris county individuals, I won second place in the triple jump with 44" 4", fifth place in the long jump, sixth place in the 110m High Hurdles and third place in the 4 by 400m. At the end of the year I was 1st team All-conference as well as All-Academic for the conference. I also became an All-American along with the rest of my hurdle crew who came in fourth place in the shuttle hurdle relay for the New Balance national meetall of which was done only sophomore year.
I can bring a lot to the table in terms of teamwork. Prior to track, I only played soccer, and I was nominated to be captain of my soccer team this year and I also expect to be captain of the track team next year. I am always extremely dedicated to whatever I do. My soccer coach always said that I was the hardest worker and most athletic player he ever had on the team, and for track, I won MVP underclassman for both winter and spring track.
The location of my school is not one of my main priorities. What it really comes down to is the academic as well as the athletic reputation of the school. I am in the top ten percent of my class and I want to go somewhere where I can not only get into an excellent track program, but where I can also receive a good education. I am hoping for a D1 or D2 school, and I am certain that if my sophomore achievements did not impress then my junior ones definitely will, but I would also be contented going to a D3 school.
My desired major is somewhere in the engineering or mathematcs field, but I am not sure about anything more specific.
My athletic goals are simply be a contibuting member of a competitive track and field team. As I stated before, I would be fine with a D1, D2, or D3 school. My track coach has told me that at the rate I am improving, I should be able to shave a second or more off of my 110 hurdle time, a few seconds off of my intermediate hurdle time, and add a few more feet to my triple and long jump by the end of this year, and I hope to accomplish all of these goals as well.
