My name is Mark Miller, and I am a senior at Shawnee High School. So far in high school I have participated in one season of Winter Track, three seasons of Spring Track, and I am currently in my second season of Cross Country. I decided a third of the way through the Summer into my junior year that I wanted to run Cross Country instead of play Soccer.
In college, I want to become the best runner that I can be and earn my best grades in the classroom. I understand that competing at the collegiate level is something that is very competitive, and requires a certain kind of focus. To compete at the collegiate level for Track and Field, a persistent attitude is also necessary in order to be successful. It is imperative that these two qualities, among others, are possessed by those who wish to achieve their goals for running in college. Without focus, a student-athlete will slowly lose track of not only their athletic goals and progress, but also their academic goals. Without persistence, a student-athlete will get tired of the sometimes monotonous training that is vital to running well in college. But, if a student-athlete has a combination of the two characteristics, then it is very likely that they will accomplish their goals - and these are two qualities that I possess.
