Michael Kane '12 Recruiting Profile

Hello! My name is Michael Kane, but calling me Mike is fine.  I'm 18 years old and I am a Senior at Holy Cross High School in Delran, New Jersey.  I am 6' even and 210 pounds.  I run about a 4.7 forty yard dash and my vertical is at 28" currently.  My greatest max on the bench press so far has been 330 pounds, my greatest on the squat rack was at 405, and my greatest power clean was at 250.  Needless to say I am always trying to improve these statistics just as any other aspiring athete would.  During the Spring Season (Outdoor) my greatest outdoor shot put throw was 48" 9.5'.  As well as shot put I also participate in the sprints whenever my coaches may require me to do so even though they are not my main event. The sprints have mainly been the shorter ones such as the 100m (11.6 seconds) , 200m (25.9 seconds), and the 55m (7 seconds).  This past season I qualified for and competed in the NJ Meet of Champions where I threw my Personal Record in the Shot Put.  I also won the New Jersey Sectional Championships for South Non-Public A.  I have been a two year captain of the track team and one year captain for my football team.  
Now to a team I can offer my great leadership skills as well as my contagious work ethic.  I believe in leading by example, so in order to have a great hardworking team you must be a hardworker yourself.  I am great at motivating my fellow track and fielders and well and my football teammates to become all they can be and to always give everything they have in every drill of every practice.  Right now, in the weight room, I am constantly pushing my fellow throwers to work harder so they can achieve those new personal records they so desperately want.  
I am looking to go to school somewhere along the East Coast, but also close to a large city (Philly, New York, etc..) and at this point I am open to options further away than most kids would be comfortable such as down in Florida.  I am a practicing Christian so private Christian schools are always a big plus in my book.  As far as my major is concerned I am going to major somewhere in the business field.  What my concentration in business shall be is another though.  I am still weighing my options.  
As far as for my goals for this upcoming year I would really like to break the shot put record at my high school, which I only have to throw six further to achieve, so I am working really hard towards that.  I also aim to competing at the next level and showing the school I end up attending just how hard of a worker I am and score some points for my team as a freshman.
