I found running by accident. The sport I loved was soccer. My parents told me that they thought I would be a great runner, but I ignored them. During my seventh grade year, I went out for track, but the track season was at the same time as club soccer. The day of our first track meet, I had a soccer game and I wanted to leave the track meet as soon as possible so I decided to run the mile because it was the first race of the day. I won the mile and have been running ever since.
I have been very fortunate to have a supportive family, teachers and coaches. I am a hard worker and very coachable. I listen to my coaches and teachers with respect and know that they want the best for me to succeed. I continue to work hard on lowering my times to reach my best potential. I know that there is always room for improvement. I believe in training hard because I know that some one somewhere else is training hard as well.
I am a great teammate to others and I lead by example. I am a good listener and I am there for my teammates when they need me.
In the classroom I work hard to learn and maintain good grades. I maintain a high GPA while juggling the many extra curricular activities. I have also been selected for National Honors Society.
I am a well-rounded individual. I enjoy music. I sing in my school’s highest choir, an audition only specialty choir, and with the city’s youth orchestra and chorale. I have also made the All-State and All-Northwest choirs. I am active in my church and I volunteer providing community service.
I am excited about my future and look forward to continuing my education and running career. I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the track. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college where I can be competitive. I hope to make the best out of my college career without any regrets.
