I come from a moderate size family. I have 1 brother, 1 sister, and a dog. My parents have been married for 18 years and have worked ever since to show me that you have to put in the time to get the reward. My father has 3 degrees and works as a computer program developer and my mother is, as of recently, a Dr. of Pharmacy. They have always been supportive of my athletics, but insisted that academics are more important.
I began running for Liberty High School my freshman year after being cohersed by a friend. The season went well for us. I was primarily a JV runner but found myself inching closer to the Varsity stats each week. By the state meet, I was in a position to run as an alternate. This encouraged me to run again my sophomore year in which I improved greatly, due to the leadership of fellow runners. I qualified for Varsity and once again found myself at the state meet, this time as a participant. By the start of my Junior year, a new high school was built and the district was re-zoned. I was the only member of the high school mens cross country team within the district lines of the new high school. I was called by the new head coach and asked to recruit team members from the list of students who also found themselves attending the new Liberty North High School. Not only was I gathering team members, but I soon found that I had to take the lead role and serve as team captain. I had to show them what cross country was all about as well as work on my own ability as a runner. I had to lead when I only knew how to follow. For the past year, I have served this team and we have developed into state contenders and become a threat to local class 3 teams, both mens and womens.
I spent many years reading and researching animals, usually reptiles and amphibians as they more interesting to me. I am currently interested in a career in veterinary medicine, but am open to new experiences and ideas that may lead me in other directions. I chose to take mostly science and math courses in high school, forfeiting the 'easy A' offered by alternate classes. Currently, I have not narrowed my sights on any one particular school and I am looking at all options available to me.
