Nick Howard '12 Recruiting Profile

I'm a 5'10", 138 pound, senior.  I am on the honor roll, and I have been a class president.  I have worked hard through all of my four years in high school to be a better athlete.  As a freshman and even as a sophomore I never thought that I could accomplish what I did last year.  I started out my freshman year as a distance runner, but discovered that I was pretty good at the 400m.  Now, it is my passion.  I am currently playing varsity basketball, and I'm counting the days until the start of track season.  My goal this year is to break the school record of 50.2, and contend for states.  I qualified for states individually last year and finished 10th on one of the hottest day on record in the state!!  My fastest time last year was 52.3, and my fastest relay split in the 4 x 400m was 51.3.  I have been chosen for several coach's awards for hard work and leadership.  I am not minimizing my interest in a big or small college.  I want to run where I can excel boh on the track and in the classroom.  My parents are divorced and I know that I will require financial assistance.  We will be attending all of the financial aid meetings at my high school.  They want what is best for me and will stop at nothing to make sure that I can pursue my dreams.  My desired major in in Teaching.  I have really enjoyed being a mentor to kids at the elementary school.  Some of my fellow students and I help as student aids every day, reading stories, and helping with their studies.  I want to run for a school who will push me to be my best.  I will not ever doubt myself, or doubt how far I can go again.  Thank you for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you.
