I am a 5'11" three-sport athlete beginning to excel at pole-vaulting with six 13'6" performances during my junior year and a 14'0" this summer while training for my senior year football. I am playing 4 positions for our ranked football team this season and will wrestle above my weight for our returning State Championship team this winter. We had successful seasons in both, reaching the playoffs in football and finishing as the Division 1 State Runner-Up in wrestling. I seperated my shoulder first in football, then severely in wrestling, but I just had surgeries to repair it and I am way ahead of schedule and feeling great for track. I expect to vault again by May and run full speed again by April
Latest update, April 2012 - my first semester GPA was a 3.4 and I will match or exceed that for my last semester. I started competing again last week: Long jump - 20+ feet 4 times, Pole Vault - 14 feet on a 4 left approach to be safe, 200 - 23.0, 400 - 52.0 open / 51.3 split, Shot Put 41 feet, and Discus 113 feet. I will not high jump nor hurdle this spring, but I have always done well in both. 6500 point Decathlon will be my goal for college freshman year.
I have enjoyed my siblings' experiences at both large and small colleges and would love to continue my athletic pursuits, perhaps as a decathalete and/or football player, but definitely in pole vault, in which I plan to clear 18 feet during my career while I earn an education in the liberal arts.
