Hello, my name is Matthew T. Hommer, and running track past my High School is my main ambition in life. I am currently a senior at Lake Fenton High School. I am 5ft 8’ and weigh 155lbs. I have ran track since I was in 7th grade, and I have excelled at it ever since. When I am running in a race, there is no better feeling than it, the wind rushing by my face, the tunnel-vision that leads to the finish line, and the feeling of trying to give everything I have plus more. As a sophomore, I and my team obtained the title of All-State in the 4 by 100m twice so far in my track career. First by placing 8th for Division 3 in 2011 and second for placing 4th this year, 2012. I am involved in the Boy Scouts of America and currently hold the highest rank, Eagle Scout rank. I qualified for States in power lifting as a junior by lifting 935lbs at the Whitmore Lake Regional Meet. In addition to showing leadership, hard work, dedication, and drive, I more importantly set the bar on how an athlete should represent their school and the programs within it. Encouragement, instructing, vocalizing, setting the tone, and keeping the moral up is only few of the things I do on a daily basis. No matter what I am doing, I am doing it hard which makes the people around me do it harder because of my leadership and attitudes I portray. I am not to picky to where I would like to go to school, I am fine with anywhere as long as they allow me to run track for them and have my preferred majors. Of course, I am a family oriented guy, so I would like to be able to see my family once and awhile, so as long as I stay inside of the U.S. I would be happy. I would prefer to go to a school in a suburban setting and is a respectable division level, but once again I am not that picky, I do not ABSOLUTLY have to have my preferences but it could not hurt either. When I am accepted into a college and or university I will need financial help, so any scholarships would be a slight determiner on if I go to college at said school. When I am studying in college I plan on being in the Physican Assitant field, what exact career within that field i still am unsure of. I am not set in stone on one of those two but I am fairly positive I will be in one of them. My goal for when I am hopefully running track in college is one mainly one thing, to be represent a schools name with pride when I am racing across the finish line. You can only do the things you love for a limited amount of time, so why not enjoy and have fun while you can. Sincerely, Matthew T. Hommer
