I am on a journey. My life started in Haiti and since 2012, I have lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My ultimate goal is to graduate from college and make a difference. I am a two-sport athlete with a solid academic profile. I am fluent in both the French and English languages, as well as speak Spanish.
Being a two-sport athlete has been both a curse and advantage. I understand and live the value of year-round hard work. However, as a track athlete competing in a very physical sport like football, injuries can have an effect on performance. My Junior year was an example of this dilemma.
I had a great track career from 8th grade through my Sophomore year in High School that included school records, along with State and Conference Championships. I love football, but suffered a hip flexor injury my Junior year and it was a slow recovery, and my outdoor times reflect the results of that injury. On a positive note, I did manage battle to set the school record in the 60 meters indoor at 7.11.
I am dedicating myself to my Senior year and will run a full indoor season with hopes of breaking the 7.0 barrier. in the 60 meters. I also hope to stay healthy, with a goal of running a 10.8 in the 100 meters this season.
I have received interest from several NCAA D1 and D2 schools, as well as some of the top NAIA schools nationally, including a couple National Championship programs.
I look forward to making a difference as a student/athlete at a school over the next 4 years and appreciate you giving me the opportunity to tell my story. If you want a student/athlete that will bring it each day and with proper coaching can turn a "diamond in the rough" into a winning sprinter, I am that person.
Thank you,
Davidson St. Jean
