I am a distance runner for track and cross country. I have participated in the cross country and outdoor track varsity running programs at Fitchburg High School for the past three years and the indoor track team starting this year. This fall, I qualified and competed in the cross country state meet at Northfield Mountain. After qualifying for states in cross country, I decided to focus my efforts on running and in order to do that I stopped playing hockey and joined indoor track.
I enjoy the challenges that athletics has to offer but place equal effort on my academics. My current GPA is a 4.0 and I was inducted into the National Honor Society this year. I challenge myself in school by taking all of the honors and AP level courses offered. Maintaining good grades and receiving a great education are important steps for me toward developing a strong future
In addition scouting and serving the community has a strong presence in my life. Earning the Eagle Scout award was a highly rewarding experience that helped me understand the importance of community service and leadership. In scouting NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) has improved my leadership skills by participating in the course and serving on staff. As captain of the cross-country team, I use the principles of scouting and NYLT to help develop and motivate team members to reach their running goals.
A perfect match for me would be an institution that would challenge me to improve my running times, would be interested in working with me to develop my running style, and have an educational program that matches my interests. I am interested in a mid-sized school that focuses on math and science or more specifically, mechanical engineering. The northeast is my ideal location but I am open to institutions that that match my interests.
