My name is Travis Ciempa and I am so excited to take my next steps towards both college academics and college athletics. I have had a passion for running since the summer before seventh grade when I trained on the beaches of Cape Cod with my older sister and my twin brother. Running is not only a way for me to make my mark on my community and the world but it's also something that truly makes me happy with myself. I am who I am, because I love who I am. Being an athletic student who is engaged in several extra-curricular activities make me a well rounded leader in both my school and my community.
I find it so much easier to get my work done and get it done well ever since I joined my Cross Country team. They are so supportive with school related questions and my coach is always there for me when I need help. Our team’s academics have always been put first before our athletics. I know that my scholastic and physical goals work hand in hand to make me the student I am today. I was never interested in History until last year when my AP US History Teacher not only explained what happened in the past, but when we had long discussions on why these Leaders did the things they did. I decided that I wanted to pursue a career in Psychology because the “why” questions fascinate me and I have many aspirations to learn more about how the mind works.
I have been running for my school for six years. My first two years I accomplished going all the way to our Division II Western Mass. Championships. Then for the next three consecutive years I have achieved the chance to compete at the State level. This past year I obtained a top ten finish in all of Division II Massachusetts with a time of 15.03. As for Track and field, I run in the 1600 meter and the 3200 meter races. My Personal best for the 1600 is 4.36 and the 3200 is 9.35. I am proud of my PR’s and I am excited for the upcoming seasons to improve upon them.
