Personal Statement

COMMITTED to UW-OSHKOSH Track & Field!

I would like the opportunity to be developed into a DECATHLETE (even though I've never attempted the pole vault nor the throws). So far my strongest track event is the 400M HURDLE. I also have broader success including 400M, Long Jump, 100M, 200M, High Jump, Shuttle Hurdle Relay, and several other relays. I have a handful of life priorities that I focus on: 1) Christian faith, 2) family, 3) friends, 4) school, and 5) sports. As a life-long 4-sport athlete I’ve embraced and live-out the themes of two FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) camps I attended: RELENTLESS and ALL-IN. I have a calm yet fun and fiercely persistent competitive intensity.

In track I've developed from "Rookie of the Year" as a freshman, to "Most Valuable Athlete Award" as a junior. In my junior season across a wide variety of events I accumulated the team-high 182 Lettered Points across 12 meets. During the season, I was part of team-best performances in 7 events. For the 3rd consecutive year, I qualified for state in the maximum number of 4 events, and medaled in 3 of the 4. I currently am noted 10 times in our high school's "Pella Boys Track and Field Top Ten 1965-2017". Pella Boys Track & Field were the 2016 Class 3A State Champions.

My football athletic/running/competitive skills as a running back and cornerback can be viewed at http://www.hudl.com/profile/5570691/avery-vanzee. 2016 State Champion. 2015 State Champion.

Baseball centerfielder and base stealer. 2017 1st Team All Conference, 2017 Hustle Award, 2016 Hustle Award, 2015 1st Team All Conference.

Home for me has always been Pella, Iowa, but I'm not geographically constrained in this search to excel as a student-athlete.
