Personal Statement
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I am a high school hurdler with a dream to rise and compete at the next level. I believe hard work will always pay off in the end; each year I have set new goals and, with fortitude and determination, I achieved them. I have improved my 300M competition hurdle time from 46.64 in my Freshman year, to 41.12 in my junior year, with a personal best time of 40.88. My goal is to decrease my 300M hurdles time to less than 38 seconds and my 110M hurdles time to less than 14 seconds. I am very coachable - as a captain of the football and track teams, I understand the value of competitiveness and a dogged pursuit of excellence, but most of all, I understand the value of following instruction and working in unison with your teammates toward one common goal.
As an athlete, I am able to compete in many different events. In football, I play the cornerback and receiver positions, and I have competed in track & field since the 8th grade. I value hard work and preparation above all else, these standards are my foundation - and they are non-negotiable. Academically, I work hard, but have not met my goals as yet. I am dedicated to graduating with a 3.0 GPA, and I refuse to accept any less of myself. My ultimate goal is to compete in track & field at the collegiate level and to earn a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or another related field.
