Akeem Simmons '15 Recruiting Profile

        Over the years I've come to realize that there are both internal and external factors that influence every decision we make in our daily lives.  Both of these two factors, has served as the foundational cornerstone of my decision to pursue a career as a Student Athlete and Graphic Image Design Artist.  My childhood experiences, has afforded me the unique insight of an artistic view of my surrounding environment.  As a child I have always had a flair for the integration of color, art, and design into what I call my blank canvas philosophy.  Each day I approach my surrounding environment as a blank canvas awaiting my arrangement of it into a mosaic masterpiece of color, structure, and depth.  I believe that my unique prospective, passion and internal drive compels me to go beyond the limits of the world’s preset boundaries in my Athletic pursuits and my desire to achieve the unthinkable. Each day I strive to be better than the day before which serve as the back drop for my obtaining the required skills to break though the limitation of my mind of the can not’s to the freedom of I can. As the blank canvas I feel that my achievements at the University level will piece by piece provide me with the structure needed to guide me down the road to a satisfying and rewarding career. I know that the balance of hard work, dedication and working in a career I love, will provide me with a depth of fulfillment such as I have never experience before in my high school career. Throughout my development from a child to now a young adult, my parents have always been my external colors of inspiration, a loving smile, an encouraging word, and a loving home environment. Their strength and courage to take life daily challenges head on has provided me with the courage and the belief that there is nothing beyond my achievement. My sail is indeed full and I am ready to start moving in the direction of awarding career and one day I too will be able to inspire others with my success story.
